The Ford and Edison Winter Estates are set amid a botanical garden 17 acres in size. On display, visitors find turn-of-the-century furniture, Edison’s library, and photographs of Ford and Edison with their families. The garden plant life is a sight to see. More than 1,000 species coming from around the world are on display. Orchids and palms are included.

A popular Fort Myers recreational area is Lakes Park. There are 158 out of the 279-acres that have fresh water canoeing, fishing for catfish and bass, and swimming. Lifeguards are on duty beginning Memorial Day to Labor Day. There is a 2.5-mile paved path for biking, roller blades, or running. The Fragrance Garden is a unique experience for the senses. Showers, boat rentals, miniature train rides, concession stands, and picnic areas are available. Pets and alcohol are not allowed.
